Qing Books is a slow, experimental, independent publishing operation run by Nancy Wu. This imprint engages in publishing as method for critical intervention in our increasingly unstable media landscape.
Titles produced by Qing Books tend to address traversing space and time; Asianness and Chinese identity; and the material realities of technology. They consist of books primarily, and other less traditional "publications," and are usually an outcome of individual research projects or collaborations with fellow artists.
Qing Books is committed to 1) information and knowledge sharing free from the demands of accelerationist technology governing media at large, 2) paying careful attention to design as a fundamental instrument for education, 3) handling images and shaping aesthetics responsibly in a visually driven culture, and 4) building a sustainable, alternative business model within an industry being strangled by surveillance capitalism.
